USD 417 Vacancies

 

Regular Route School Bus DriverUSD 417 Morris County is seeking applicants to fill an opening as a regular route school bus driver. 

Regular route drivers are 9-month school district employees who are scheduled to run 2 routes each day school is in session. Morning routes typically start between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m., finishing between 7:50 a.m. and  8:10 a.m. Afternoon routes start at 3:00 p.m. and finish between 4 and 4:30 p.m.

Regular route drivers are paid by route, earning between $30.55 and $31.90 per route, with rate of pay being determined by experience. Regular route drivers have the opportunity to earn additional income by driving activity trips, with 50% of their contracted route pay being paid to them if they miss their route to drive an activity trip.

Regular route drivers are eligible for benefits which include 3/4 of a single health insurance premium, sick and personal leave, and 5 paid holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and Good Friday).

Regular route drivers, including applicants who obtain employment with the district, are reimbursed for fees associated with CDL licensing and the DOT physical.

Previous bus driving experience helpful, but not required.

Assistance training and obtaining Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S&P Endorsements provided.


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Hold a valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L. B or A with S & P Endorsements) OR ability to attend training and obtain Kansas Commercial Driver’s License
3. Thorough knowledge of traffic laws, bus regulations, district policies, rules, and transportation regulations.
4. Good driving skills.
5. No serious driving violations.
6. Ability to pass a bus driver physical examination.
7. Ability to pass a Medic First Aid Course.
8. Ability to pass a Defensive Driving Course.
9. Ability to maintain good discipline on bus.
10. Ability to get along well with students, patrons, and staff; exercising courtesy and tact.
11. Must be 18 years of age or over
12. Must attend and/or watch required safety meetings.
13. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as are determined to be appropriate and acceptable.

We are also seeking applicants who would be interested in working part-time as a regular route substitute/activity driver. Regular route substitutes make $22.70 per hour, and activity drivers make $12.15 per hour, with a guaranteed 4 hours of pay for each trip.

Activity/Substitute Bus DriverUSD 417 is seeking applicants to fill an opening as a route substitute/activity driver. Assistance training and obtaining a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with S&P Endorsements will be provided.

Applicants who successfully complete training and obtain employment will receive an initial $150 signing bonus, with another $150 bonus being awarded at the end of the school year if the employee demonstrates and maintains a willingness to fill route and trip vacancies.

Route substitutes make $22.70 per route and fill in for regular route drivers, typically with at least a week's notice. Training is provided to learn a route before a substitute is expected to drive a route on their own.

Activity drivers make $12.15 per hour, with a guaranteed 4 hours of pay for each trip. Activity drivers bus students to and from locations for athletic competitions, field trips, etc.during the school day in the afternoon/evening, and occasionally on Saturdays.

Route substitutes/activity drivers will be offered any benefits-eligible regular route driver openings before those positions are advertised. Currently the district does not have any regular route openings, but we expect to have at least one opening after the 2019-2020 school year concludes.

CGJSHS 7-hour CookUSD 417 is seeking applicants to fill a benefits-eligible 7-hour Cook position at CGJSHS. Hours are 7am-2pm, Monday through Friday. Nights, weekends, holidays, and summers off. Lunch provided.

Pay rate will increase for the 2020-2021 school year. Additional compensation for prior related work experience may be granted.

This position works under the supervision of the Food Service Director. Job duties include but are not limited to cooking, serving, and cleaning. Applicant must have the ability to multi-task, work as a team member, be on their feet for extended periods of time, and be able to lift 30 lbs.

PHES Teacher Aide/ASP DirectorPHES is seeking applicants to fill a Teacher Aide/After School Program Director position for the 2020-2021 school year. This position works whenever school is in session from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a half hour break at 12:45 p.m.

This position is benefits-eligible and pays a base hourly rate of $10.55 - additional compensation for prior related work experience may be granted.
Applicants must have a high school diploma, demonstrate an aptitude for the work to be performed, and be capable of enduring periods of prolonged standing.
