Weekly Report 01/22/2010
This week: Letter M, designs and patterns, CIRCLE assessments, share M items on Friday.
Next week: Letter N
Dear Parents,
This week we continue learning about patterns. We learned a song “Checks, Dots, and Stripes.” If your child has been asking to wear these patterns this week this would be why. The students who are wearing checks, stripes and dots have a part to stand up in the song and twirl around. We have been recognizing these patterns in the classroom and categorizing them.
We tasted canned mangos for Tasting Tuesday. I was surprised how many children liked them. I introduced the letter M and we learned the magic sound M makes. We learned the sign language sign for M and mittens. We also learned the animated alphabet gesture for the sound M makes. (Mimi mermaid mopping with her magic mop) Ask your child if he or she can show you any of these.
Thank you for bringing items to share that start with the letter L. We had Lighting McQueen, a lollipop, a letter, Mandy Jo brought her mom Lisa, Lance, Lilly and Logan brought themselves and we all had lips.
This week we have started to make a big deal for the children that have no time outs during the school day. I will send home a special note that celebrates your child’s good behavior and they will receive an extra check on our treasure box chart. I am hoping this positive reinforcement will help all the students realize that good behavior has some rewards!
Please decorate the snowman with your child and send it back to school. I only have 7 returned so far.
Have a good weekend,
Ms. Shari
