FAQs About VPL
Q: Why was I placed in VPL?
A: Any of several reasons. You may need to make up a class that you failed. You may want to take an advanced course. You may be a nontraditional student (parent, transfer student, part-time student) who needs a flexible schedule. You may have difficulty concentrating in a traditional classroom setting. You may need to review basic reading or math skills. VPL can accommodate all of these special needs!
Q: So, is VPL just "Computer School?"
A: Not exactly. The computer assignments are just one part of the course. You will probably also have traditional assignments, like worksheets and essays.
Q: How am I graded?
A: If you are repeating a class that you previously failed, your VPL class will be Pass/Fail. If you are taking your VPL class for the first time, you will earn a letter grade.
In most cases, your online lessons will count as 80% of your grade, and your traditional assignments will count as 20%.
Mastery for online lessons is 80%. Students must earn 70% on traditional assignments to earn credit for those.
Q: How long do I have to complete my VPL class?
A: All coursework must be done by the end of the semester, just like a traditional class. Exceptions are possible for students who begin a class late in the semester, but only with approval of the instructor.
