One of the stated BOE goals for this school year is to address the remaining needs for the USD 417 sports complex. If you will recall, last year the district replaced the visitor’s bleachers and added walkways to the stadium to meet ADA guidelines and code requirements for bleachers. The second aspect of the curriculum presentation at the January BOE meeting involved the potential to add more courses for our students through online opportunities. All of these courses will be elective, and many will have dual credit opportunities. The goal of offering these will be to align courses in some manner with career interests of our students. One of the most important attributes in children and adults is the ability to form hope. To live without hope is to live without joy, peace and happiness. A recent national report published by the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce found that 99% of the job growth that has occurred since 2008 has gone to workers with some post-secondary education.
