Curriculum: Career-Technical

Academic-Technical Education (CTE)

The curriculum area called Academic-Technical Education has been called Career-Technical Education for several years.  You see both used at this time; sometimes you may see the acronym CTE.  In USD 417, this area includes the following:

  • K-8 Keyboarding-Technology
  • MS and HS Technology Module Labs
  • HS Business, HS Agriculture, and HS Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS)

The USD 417 K-8 Keyboarding-Technology curriculum was completed by the K-12 Key-Tech Subject Area Committee (SAC) during the 07-08 school year. This new curriculum is being piloted during the 2008-09 school year. Our local curriculum is aligned with the Kansas Technology Literacy Standards as well as being aligned from grade level to grade level K-8.  To view the USD 417 K-8 Keyboarding-Technology curriculum, corresponding checklists, or resource pages, click on any link below.

To obtain a list of modules taught in the Technology Module Labs or a list of courses taught in the Business, Ag, or FACS areas, go to either middle school's webpages, the high school webpage, or call Kelly Gentry at the district office.  (Our new Career Education curriculum should be available this spring.)
