In Search for USD 417 District Academic Council
Are you interested in being more involved in our school district? Would you like to be part of the discussion about academic decisions affecting our students? The USD 417 District Academic Council (DAC) has an opening for a community member representative for the 2016-2017 school year. The current open spot is for the “At Large” position. This person can be from any location inside our school district and can be a parent or a community rep. The DAC advises the Board of Education, through the superintendent, in matters concerning curriculum, instruction, and student learning. The committee meets about four times a year at the district office on Wednesday mornings from 8:00-11:00 a.m.
DAC is comprised of members representing the teaching staff, board of education, and communities within our district boundaries (Alta Vista, Council Grove, Dunlap, Dwight, Wilsey, and At Large). These representatives each serve three-year terms. DAC members also include the building administrators, curriculum coordinator, special education coordinator, high school counselor, and superintendent. Detailed information about DAC can be found on the district website www.usd417.net under Curriculum.
Applications are available on the district website, the district office, or any school office. Please return applications to either a school office or the district office by Friday, Sept. 9. If you have questions, contact Kelly Gentry at the district office 767-5192.
