The Lexile Framework for Reading

What are Lexiles?

Both Benchmark assessments and State Assessments give students, parents, and educators Lexile measures for each individual student.

Lexile measures describe the reading level of a student and the complexity of a text on a single scale. Teachers and parents can use Lexile measures to select books, articles and websites that will provide the right level of challenge to improve the reading and comprehension skills of students.
Lexile measures also help teachers and parents monitor student progress toward standards, including the Common Core State Standards.

See the Parent section at the bottom of the Lexile page, especially the link to “Find A Book.
