Tropical Birds Visit 3rd Grade

by Vicki Stone

The CGES third graders had some unique visitors on Tuesday, March 11, when Bob and Judy Stewart brought their three tropical birds in to share.  Wojo, an eclectus parrot, spent the entire day in Mrs. Stone's classroom.  He laughed when the students laughed and even whistled!

Mr. Stewart holds Jake, who sang opera for us, while Paco sits on his shoulder.

During the visit, Wojo climbed a rope to show the students how he uses his beak like an extra foot.  Paco flew across the room to Mr. Stewart, and one of the favorite tricks was when Jake sang opera for the class!

Jake TenEyck pets Wojo, an eclectus, while Mrs. Stewart holds him.

Students learned all about the birds, their care and expenses.  They were able to ask questions and even got to pet Wojo at the end of the visit.
