Summer vacation is quickly fading away as we begin the 2018-2019 school year on August 16th.  We have had several facility upgrades over the summer that have changed the appearance of our campus.  New flooring in the kitchen, lunchroom and hallways is perfect for an elementary school building! Please make sure to take a look around on Tuesday, August 14th, at our CGES Back to School Night.  Parents have received a letter explaining times/events (the letter is also posted on the front page of the CGES website, www.usd417.net, click on Schools and scroll to CG Elementary).  To find other activities/events throughout the school year visit the CGES and/or District calendar at the website above.

This is the second year USD 417 student enrollment will be online.  We have made several changes to help fix the glitches that we had last year.   Please contact the District Office (767-5192) with any questions you may have.

We have seven new teachers in our building this year:  Brier Blythe - Kindergarten, Alec Anderson and Tina Frost - 3rd Grade, Shantel Sheets - 4th Grade, Freedom Green and Brooke Lococo - 5th Grade, and Rachel Hodges - 6th Grade.  They are a welcome addition to our CGES family!

Our district has adopted Second Step for our Social and Emotional Learning curriculum as well as our Bullying Prevention curriculum.  Second Step fits well with Integrated MTSS and our Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA) Relationship and Relevance goals.

I am often asked, “What can I do to help the school?”  One easy way to help is by cutting out and collecting Box Tops for Education labels on common grocery items.  Each label earns our school 10 cents. Kollette Gilbert, our PTO Box Top Rep/angel in disguise, has spent many hours collecting, cutting and sending in Box Tops.  Over the years our school has been given almost $20,000 from Box Tops! You can drop off Box Tops at the CGES office. I am looking forward to an amazing year full of learning and fun!  Thank you parents, families and patrons for supporting CGES and the youth of our community!
