Prairie Heights Elementary School End of Year
And in the blink of an eye, the year has come to an end. With excitement for summer bubbling over, we sent our students off with a very busy last couple of days. It was a great way to end the year, spending time just enjoying being together. It is our hope that students and families are enjoying some quality time with each other this summer, as well.
The spring semester was jammed pack full of field trips, state assessments, fundraisers and many fun-filled school wide activities. Students helped raise money during the annual Hoops for Heart activity during their PE classes. We spent “Kindness Week” reaching out to others and sharing kind words and acts with them. We had an all-school read aloud book called the Lemonade War. Our students also decided to hold their own Lemonade Stand and raise money for a local family in need. We had a fun theme song themed spring music program and finished up many creative art projects. Lastly, we wrapped up the year with a couple days to celebrate the year and all of the student’s accomplishments. Our surprise skating field trip was a huge success and students and staff really enjoyed the day together. Special thanks to our PTO for providing the funds to do this and to all parents for helping us keep this surprise celebration a secret from students. Our last day of school was a busy one with our Kindergarten promotion, Awards assembly, and field day. Several students received both academic and non-academic awards for their accomplishments at our annual awards assembly. And even though it was a warm day outside, our students enjoyed the track and field style field day and celebration as a way to end the semester.
Before we know it, it will be time to start enrolling for next year. Please make sure to stay tuned for letters and announcements about online enrollment. We are looking forward to seeing all our students and hearing about their summer excitement when we return in the fall.
