Emprise Bank "Terrific Kid" Evan Carr, a sixth-grader from Council Grove, placed third in The All Veterans Tribute Student Essay and Poster Contest held by the Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau. The contest was open to students from fifth grade and up in seven counties in and around Emporia. Students were tasked with submitting an essay or making a poster honoring veterans.

Carr chose to write an essay about General “Fighting Joe” Hooker of the Union Army. He was awarded a cash prize and certificate for his third place essay at a reception held in Emporia on Sunday, November 5.
