District Site Council

Are you interested in learning more about our school district?  Would you like to be part of the discussions about academic decisions affecting our students?  Would you like to help strengthen communication between our schools and our businesses or industry?

The district has a District Site Council (DSC) and there are openings for two community members for the 2017-2018 school year.  One open spot is for a representative from the Alta Vista area.  The second open position is for someone who can represent Business or Industry in the Morris County area.

The DSC advises the Board of Education, through the superintendent, in matters concerning curriculum, instruction, and student learning.  The committee meets four times a year at the district office on Wednesday mornings from 8:00-11:00 a.m.

DSC is comprised of members representing the teaching staff, board of education, and communities within our district boundaries (Alta Vista, Council Grove, Dunlap, Dwight, Wilsey, and At Large).  These representatives each serve three-year terms.  DSC members also include the building administrators, curriculum director, special education coordinator, high school counselor, and superintendent.   Detailed information about DSC can be found on the district website www.usd417.net under the District dropdown.
