New Parent Information

Mrs. Hensley’s Kindergarten

Class Information

Please email me with any questions or concerns at       nhensley@cgrove417.org.

Starting Time For School: The first bell rings at 7:50 a.m. However, students are not required to be here until 8:12 a.m. School dismisses at 3:10 p.m.

Mail Folders:  Children will have a pocket folder, which will be their mail folder.  One pocket will be for notes / papers I will send home and the other will be for any notes parents need to send to school.  It is very important that these mail folders be returned every day.  Also, please check your child’s folder nightly so that you and your child do not miss out on anything special or important.

Absences: If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please send a note to school explaining their absence, or call the school office at (620) 767-6851.

Snack Calendar: We have a snack with our afternoon milk at 1:40 p.m. Snacks are provided by the student. Healthy snacks are encouraged. A snack calendar will be sent home at the beginning of each month. As of now, we have 12 students in our class.

Birthdays: Birthdays are very special at this age. I will try to put your child’s snack day on or near his/her birthday.

Birthday Invitations: We are not allowed to hand out invitations at school. If you need addresses for your child’s classmates, we can get those for you.

Dressing for Winter: We go outside for recess unless it is very cold.  When weather turns cold, please make sure your child has a warm coat, hat, and gloves/mittens.

After School Plans: If your child will be riding a different bus or walking home with someone different than usual, please send a note or call the office, preferably before 2:00 that day.

Rest time: Included in our daily schedule, is approximately 30 minutes of rest time. I do not expect all students to fall asleep, but I do want them to rest quietly. Mats are provided.

Medication Procedures: Teachers are NOT ALLOWED to give medicine to students. If your child ever needs to have medicine taken at school, you will either need to come and dispense it yourself, or you will need to send a doctor’s note and the medicine to the nurse’s office.  Please refer to the student handbook.  Note:  Cough drops may be sent, but your child will need to give them to me to keep.  We have had problems with children treating them like candy and giving them to other students.

Discipline Policy: Be a BRAVE!

B - Behave

R - Respect

A - Act Nice

V - Value Learning

E - Expect My Best

I am looking forward to a super year! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
