Reading and Writing
Please challenge your child to sound out and read words all around. They can pick out words in books, newspapers, and on signs. Then celebrate the words they do read!!!
August
We are discussing letters and sounds. We are finding words that start with the same sounds. We are manipulating the sounds in words.
September
In September we will learn the letters P,U,O,M,A,X,D, and T. We will spell many words with these letters including pup,pop,mom,ox,dad,ax,plus many more.
We will also learn the sight words I, a, and go.
December/January
We have expanded our sight words, or snap words, to include is, the, and,like,my, and to. We have learned most of our letter sounds. We have also learned the long and short oo sounds, the sh and th sounds.
We have started reading groups and everyone is in a group working on books at their instructional level.
