Academic-Technical Education (CTE)
The curriculum area called Career-Technical Education is also called Academic-Technical Education. You see both used at this time; sometimes you may see the acronym CTE. In USD 417, this area includes the following:
- K-8 Keyboarding and Computer Applications
- HS Technology Module Lab, known as Investigations in Technology
- HS Business and HS Agriculture
The USD 417 K-8 Keyboarding-Technology curriculum was completed by the K-12 Key-Tech Subject Area Committee (SAC) during the 07-08 school year. This new curriculum was piloted during the 2008-09 school year. Additional work will be done on grades 6-12 during 2010-11. Our local curriculum is aligned with the Kansas Technology Literacy Standards as well as being aligned from grade level to grade level K-8.
